Free children detained for over 500 days by ICE officials

Antonio, Carlos, Josue’ and Michael and their mothers Marlene, Lorena, Teresa and Maribel (all pseudonyms to help protect their identities) are seeking asylum in the U.S. to escape horrific violence and abuse in their home countries. They have been held in detention for over 500 days and are currently in Berks County Residential Center in Pennsylvania.

Please urge ICE to release these families on parole immediately. There is no justification under international law for their continued detention and US law is insufficient to provide release.

I am contacting you on behalf of Amnesty International regarding those granted SIJ status and their mothers who are detained at Berks County Residential Center. There is no justification under international law for their continued detention, and the use of mandatory detention in these cases is unlawful. I urge you to use your discretion to parole these families.

Thank you.
