CĂ´te d’Ivoire: Both sides responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity

The violence that followed the disputed presidential election in November 2010 has caused the most serious humanitarian and human rights crisis in CĂ´te d'Ivoire in recent years. Hundreds of people have been unlawfully killed. Sexual violence was reported. Hundreds of thousands of people were forced to seek refuge in other regions of CĂ´te d'Ivoire or in neighbouring countries. The conclusions in this report show that all parties to the conflict have committed crimes under international law, including war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Issued two days before the trial of Egypt's former security chief on charges related to the killings of protesters, the report urges authorities to provide justice to all victims of the violent repression that led to the deaths of 840 people and injuries to over 6,000.

Egypt: Victims of protest violence deserve justice

During 18 extraordinary days in early 2011, millions of Egyptians rose up against police brutality, poverty and the relentless repression of their basic freedoms, and ended up ousting the President.
