Bharati Narumanchi joined AIUSA in July 2022 as the Director of Talent Acquisition.
She previously served as the Director of Recruitment for The Legal Aid Society of New York City from June 2017 through May 2021. As Director she helped change hiring policies and procedures, emphasizing the need for racial equity in recruitment and hiring practices. Bharati also served as a public defender in the Criminal Defense Practice, proudly representing hundreds of clients in Brooklyn and the Bronx. Bharati also created a mentoring program for law students of color and an annual diversity open house, the first of its kind in the history of the organization. She has worked in the non-profit sector for over 25 years.
Bharati has an adorable rescue cat and dog, Sweet Potato and Onyx, and loves vintage shopping, crocheting, and writing speculative fiction in her spare time.
